The Worst Days
I have had the worst 2 weeks ever! I found out the cold I had was Mono. My roommate had Mono and I did everything I could think of not to catch it from her but somehow I did. Now that I think about it, I think I drank one of the water bottles she drank out of. I had 103.7 degree fever and my throat has never hurt so bad!! I couldn't eat for a while, and I could barely walk to the bathroom without collapsing. I have done nothing but lay in bed, sleep, try to stay hydrated and watch the same episode of that stupid "Rock of Love" show on VH1. They must have played it 10 times every day. I never thought I would get Mono because I have a pretty good immune system. I just had to get it during the last part of school too. This really blows! Well I will write more later, I am tired.

I came up with a topic relatively fast for my last paper, but this paper I have something to evaluate but I am not sure about it. I am wondering if I could find more information dealing with my actual major, which is interior design, but I can't think of what to evaluate in interior design.
I am evaluating Kevyn Aucoin (a legendary make-up artist) as an artist. The professional make-up industry has always been something I would love to be involved in. I wish you could major in theatrical make-up, make-up for photography, or film make-up here at Southern Miss but unfortunatley that is not available at this college. I would love to be doing make-up professionaly for celebrities, models, and even in movies one day. The one thing I love to do and know I am good at is painting and art in general and I would love to do that on people. No one ever thinks, "Man, I wonder who did the actors and creatures make-up in that movie?" Well, that is me. I first decided to major in interior design when I came to college because my art teacher all throughout high school told me to major in an art field, I wanted to but the only thing where you can be creative and make money is interior design. You can't make a living being just a painter or an artist. Sure, you can do it as a hobby but it is hard to make a living like that. I don't like graphic design and I don't want to teach art. So I figured my best bet would be to get a degree in interior design that way if I move to a big city like Chicago i could do well!
Well, one day it hit me! I love the art of make-up, and make-up products and I love to make other people happy and feel beautiful. I have been creating new looks with make-up on my free time! It's like painting your face to make it appear different in different ways. My parents want me to get a degree in college and i think it is important but it I moved to L.A. or went to Europe right now to a top Professional make-up school I could be starting my portfolio and try to push my way into the industry! I don't want to just do it at some salon, I want to be doing the models make-up for the show "Americas Next Top Model" or doing make-up for Jessica Simpson, or doing make-up on the set of a movie. I know I could do well! So anyway, I got a little carried away with this blog. I am just really interested in this so that is why I would like to research it for my next paper. I hope I can.

My apartment
I am really aggorvated with these people they call mechanics who work at my apartment complex. Ever since I have moved into this apartment the air conditioner keeps going on the fritz. A few weeks ago, the air wasn't working becuase there was a ginormous iceburg on one of the piping. Then, management tried to get us to sign our lease but we told them we weren't so sure of that. Our dishwasher disposal has broken pieces of a shot glass in it (not my fault), Our dryer for our clothes doesn't dry the clothes it just makes them warm and moist, plus it is hotter inside our apartment than outside. So this snippy lady promised that all of that would be fixed the next day and to our suprise it was. So today I go home after class and it felt like I stepped into an oven. So I call the office and they said they would send "Chip" over to fix it. Well the minute he had it fixed and left, I went to lunch and when I got back it was hotter than hell again!! I had to move a bed frame, mattress, and other crap into my room in the hot hot heat. So Mr. Chipie comes over and I asked him what is the deal man I thought you were a pro at this stuff. He said it should be working and my house is freezing cold right now!! Yes!! It feels wonderful!!!

Today, I can't think of much to write about. I went back home this weekend to Ponchatoula because my 17 year old brother, Joe just had tonsil surgery. I thought having your tonsils out wasn't that rough but apparently my brother's tonsils were really infected and after the doctor took them out they just fell apart. Ewww...I know, it sounds gross. I found out that the older you are when you get your tonsils out the more dangerous it is. He has already lost 15 pounds because he won't eat anything and my mom is all worried. Hopefully everything will heal like it's suppose to and he will start eating again to put that weight back on his skinny butt. Well, that is all I have to write about for now.

Rough Draft
After reading and evaluating Billy Collins’s poem, “Embrace”, it was decided that it has the perfect theme and connections to the show, Nip/Tuck. In “Embrace”, Billy describes a parlor trick, “You wrap your arms around yourself and from the back it looks like someone is embracing you, but from the front you never looked so alone”. He also states after that, “You could be waiting for someone to fit you for a straightjacket.” After reviewing those words, the first concept that came to mind is perception and how people can view someone. A person can seem perfect on the outside but on the inside they are a mess.
The two main characters of the show, Christian Troy and Sean McNamara, are both two extremely successful plastic surgeons and that is what the people of Miami’s perception of them is. Their private lives, however, are a mess. The two of doctors share a practice in the Miami, south beach area and have been friends since before medical school. Christian perceives Sean as an uptight nerd who happens to be a wonderful father and husband. He is the talented one in their practice. Sean thinks that Christian has good looks, style, and no problem getting any woman he wants even if it’s just for a night. All the characters in the show relate to this poem.
In season one, the show starts of with Christian and Sean’s practice booming with business. They are doing numerous boob jobs and face lifts and Christian has been having sex with many of his patients. Sean starts to have a mid-life crisis. He feels like he was meant to be do something more than just make women look more beautiful. He wants to help people who really need surgery so he starts doing pro-bono work for people that need the surgery but don’t have the money. Christian is spending all kinds of money on new things for the office and Sean can’t stand the way Christian is acting. Julia, Sean’s wife, is also having problems with raising her two kids Matt and Annie. She feels alone and also that she never got to have her dream which was to become a doctor as well. She got pregnant before she could finish school and got married to Sean.

Back in Black
Today I decided that it was time to get back into shape! I haven't worked out in so long, and it has been hard to get back in the gym. I know I would feel much more energized and happy if I would just start excercising. So, in order for me to get motivated, I bought four fitness magazines (I couldn't just buy one...I had to buy all of them, haha), I made a work-out plan, bought nothing but healthy food, and went to the Payne Center and hit it hard!!! I feel ten times better now that I finally broke the seal! Hopefully I will keep it up and get into tip-top shape like I used to be or better! I am pumped!
When I first went to college I was a total health nut and then I slowly slipped into one of those students who eats whenever they feel like it and does Taco Bell runs at 2:oo in the morning. It was delicious but it made me feel lazy and tired all the time. Even after eating right for a week and not excercising I felt a difference during the day. I can't wait to start seeing results, which might take a little while, but it will make me a healthier person! I am going to stay commited this time! To quote ACDC, I am "Back In Black".
